Museum

History Municipal Museum

The museum was created at the beginning of 1990. It shows a pioneering English-rural architecture, with a modern touch. Collections are distributed according to subjects showing relics, objects and German-English devices from the end of the 18th century and the middle of the 19th century. It also has a photographic exhibition about explorers, settlers and Kawaskar and Aonikenk aborigines.

Peak season opening hours:
Monday to Friday 08 am to 07 pm
Saturdays 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm
An entrance fee is charged.

Salesiano Fauna Museum  “Antonio Romanato”

This museum has an exhibition room with an important retrospective of the area’s fauna, archeological and mineral remains and a seashell display.
Opening hours:
Monday to Saturday 10 am to 12.30 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm.
Location: Padre Rosa 1456 (Salesian School).

Mylodon Cave Museum

Mylodon Cave Museum has showings of the Prehistoric habitat in Patagonia and bone remains from the huge fauna living in the area.

Low season opening hours:
Monday to Friday 08.30 am to 6 pm
Peak season opening hours: Monday to Sunday 8 am to 9 pm
An entrance fee is charged.
Location: Mylodon Cave Natural Monument , 24 Km to the south of Puerto Natales.

Villa Cerro Castillo Municipal Museum

This museum is provided only with one exhibition room showing:

  • Natural History.
  • Colonization and stock farming development .
  • Aboriginal settlements (Tehuelche – Aoniken indigenous).

Opening hours:
Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6.20 pm
An entrance fee is charged.
Location: Villa Cerro Castillo, 60 Km from the city of Puerto Natales.

Puerto Bories History and Industrial Museum

Industrial Center founded in 1915 by Sociedad Explotadora Tierra del Fuego, to process the production of main stock farms in Patagonia.
At the end of the 70’s it worked as an abattoir and a meat processing plant, since two fires burned their main sections down. It has amazing facilities: locomotive rooms, freezing chambers, animal fat processing room, leather center, meat preservation area and wool laundry. It was appointed Historical Monument in 1996.

Opening hours:
Tuesday to Sunday 10 am to 8 pm
An entrance fee is charged which includes a tourist guide.
Location: 5 Km away from Puerto Natales, Ruta Nº9 North.
